sounds like you need sensitive skin shaving gel, and I do suggest Gel as it helps me majorly avoid the red marks and ingrown hairs. Shave all down, don't back shave as this tends to increase your ingrown hairs as it can cut them off below the skin. The hot towel, hot water, shower before shaving is a good way to go. it softens the hairs and allows for a smoother/cleaner shave. Wash up afterward, doing a final rinse with cool water to re close your pores. Use after shave depending on your personal preference.



Also, avoid cheap single bladed bic razors, and the bargin bin types. I suggest Gillette 2 blade and 3 blade (Sensor and like) with the handle you keep and replace the blades on
