Does anybody know if tomato extract and peppermint oil help prevent/treat ingrown hairs?

I've heard that an antibacterial soap and salicylic acid toner do the trick and I have tried them, they shrunk them and made less appear but they still came and I've been wondering if it's really a good idea to put all these chemicals on already irritated skin so I've been looking for a natural alternative.
